Set in a small diner in post-WWII America, two young veterans are waiting for one of the pair’s blind date to show up; the other will observe from a distance once the date commences. The date arrives with her friend, who likewise, will observe the date from a nearby table. Both daters try to get out of the arrangement but fail, with an unexpected twist.
