Housebound during a terrible storm, Lord Byron proposes that he and his guests—poet Percy Shelley, playwright John Polidori, and the as-yet-unpublished Mary Godwin—each write a ghost story to be shared the following night. Mary takes up the challenge and through crossed scenes between the night of the storm and the story she writes, we learn just how the future Mary Shelley created Frankenstein.
